ULVI CEMAL ERKIN CONCERT HALL NATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT COMPETITION
The project aims at developing an urban environment through the spatial relations of the built volume with its surrounding. The spaces for production, exhibition and recreation activities are required in the competition brief. In the design, the program elements are classified into blocks. Each block is differentiated according to the spatial, dimensional, technical necessities and local regulations. There are diverse entrances for the artists, as well as the staff of building management, service, radio-tv and municipality.
The building is composed of 4 blocks. The first block at the north harbors rehearsal halls, the second one contains the main hall, the third block is for the small hall and the fourth one is for the municipality service units. The blocks are placed side by side according to their sizes. Each block has a wide entrance space, which is also a part of this urban plaza.

The site is located between Turan Güneş Boulevard and Tiflis Street. The building interiors and the urban park at the south are connected in the design. The proposed street inside the building, which is composed of production ateliers for the painters and artists, ends with a courtyard at the park. The courtyard was planned to be used for a multi-purpose activity and a production area.
The public plaza on the gorund floor provides activity areas for urban life and invites urban inhabitants to the interiors. The wide stairs of the plaza and the terraces at the upper floors develop a visual connection between the users and the city. A green belt, which is composed of local plants, surrounds the building.

The plan organization is composed of three strips. The first strip, which faces Turan Güneş Boulevard on the plan, contains foyers, the second strip at the middle contains halls, the third strip placed in front of Tiflis Street is composed of service areas. The blocks and strips overlap on the plan configuration.
