TURKISH BASKETBALL FEDERATION HEADQUARTERS

TBF Headquarters Building is located in Zeytinburnu on a 13.685 sqm. site. The building, surrounded by Abdi İpekçi Sports Hall and Yedikule Ramparts, was designed in accordance with the context. The material choice, being in harmony with the historical ramparts, and brutal approach compose the language of the building. The building height and façade decisions are made considering the surrounding.

The terrace lying across the southeast façade develops a visual relation with the historical ramparts. The roof works as a skin covering the rectangular mass. The eaves extend in diverse dimensions over the facade. In this way, they generate different forms of shading in every direction. Sometimes they transform into structural walls by extending to the ground at some points.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Emir Turam - 211 cm

An atrium with the three-sided staircase is created at the center. The skylight that is in line with the atrium creates natural lighting to the corridors. A glass box at the ground floor provides an exhibition space for the medals and cups of the Federation.

The plan organization conforms to the institutional structure of TBF. Since the primariy users of the building are from the basketball field, the dimensioning iis in accordance with the heights of the basketball players and managers. The above picture displays how door dimensions conform to the famous Turkish Basketball Player Emir Turam, who has a 211 cm height.
