TATAMI SEVEN

Tatami Seven is a residential project, located next to the Palas Campus by Yazgan Design Architecture. The concept of the Tatami Seven comes from the Japanese term Tatami which is a floor / carpet system that divides the interior space into grids, is used on the facade of the building. While the ground floor is designed with a more transparent facade for the commercial use, the upper floors are divided into grids and the facade is covered with a secondary shell. These grids also referenced the balconies and the divisions between apartments.

Large terraces have been designed in order to integrate nature into the architecture by taking the green to the upper levels. These terraces, which strengthen the solid void relationship of the building, have enriched the spaces with the use of plants.

Palas Campus was taken as a reference for the material of the facade grids. In order to reveal the grids of the facade, the inner wall surface is designed in a dark brown color, to clarify the separation through the contrast.
