PRISTINA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INVITED ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT COMPETITION
PIA New Terminal Building has approximately 25,000 m2 of closed construction area. Proposed building has 3 three floors. The floors are raised above the ground level. The raised floors harbor apron, arrival and departure spaces.
The building has a 208, 20 m. facade. The apron is positioned in paralel with the longitudinal facade. A number of gallery spaces with diverse shaped skylights are designed that would bring dynamism and transparency to the entire building.
Arrival and departure areas are clearly divided both in plan and section by creating green belt deck. Besides, landside and airside are separated from each other with service spaces, offices, controlling areas and passages. Spaces were placed as 3D visual relationship between arrival and departure spaces and inside-outside will be created. Ceiling of the building is designed as reflective suspended ceiling in order to gain spatial and visual richness.
DESIGNOGRAPHY
In order to create identical, unique roof design for new modern Kosovo airport, contrasting to economical flat roof in rigid geometry, different shaped and angled skylights were designed. Angled skylightings provide special sky-ground relationship through skewing skylights.
