KAVACIK OFFICE

Kavacık Office is situated at the edge of Kavacık artery that belongs to the road leading to the Bosphorus Bridge in İstanbul. The 5973 square-meter-office is famous for its six meter-cantilevered box containing meeting areas. The design is developed out of seven volumes that are juxtaposed by considering programmatic requirements. The main volume harbors open offices and are located at the center. The other volumes surround this rectangular volume in three dimensional space.

Each volume harbors a group of program functions, that are working areas, service units, circulation spaces, shops, car parking, cafe and private meeting. The separation of service units, such as circulation corridors and wet areas from the main volume enabled free arrangement of working areas. It brings forward a certain flexibility in grouping similar functions and shaping the volume according to technical requirements.

Each volume has its own integrity considering the selection of facade material. The volume that contains service units has a brutal style and has a concrete facade. The cylindrical volume that contains circulation units has a glass curtain wall. Cantilevered meeting space is surrounded by louvers. Therefore it is possible to observe the idea of volumetric separation from the outside. The design took shape by “adding” various elements of design program together, “grouping” them into volumes, “arranging” them around the main central volume of working areas. “The design of the design act”, an approach based on constructing the design acts, was the motto that gave way to the built form.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The interior spaces were designed with an emphasis on certain architectural elements that belong to interior spaces, such as columns, stairs etc. through the use of color.
