PHILOSOPHY
Yazgan Design Architecture diverts from corresponding firms for certain reasons. Firstly, it puts emphasis on the reflection of theoretical background and academic knowledge to architectural practices. The researches on systems and acts in architectural design processes, which are firstly put forward in the process of improving knowledge on design, found a place in architectural works as well. The firm aims to clearly associate design with production and construction through systematization of design processes.
Secondly, the firm aims to bring together design knowledge with environmentally appropriate approaches. Environmentally considerate design is pursued not only in terms of building scale, but also in terms of the one of building’s surrounding. When building is of concern, the firm puts an endeavor to systematize design acts by putting emphasis on green values and integrates that approach with international environmental assessment systems. Tarsu Shopping and Entertainment Center Project that the firm realized in 2010 can be considered as one the examples for that endeavor. The building received BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certificate with a “very good” degree, the highest score that is received for a building in Turkey. Consequently, when the building’s surrounding is of concern, the design is achieved through the consideration of same systematic approach as the one of building. Such example is the realization of Orange House’s landscape and environmental design through the same approach that is pursued for the building itself.
The third difference is the realization of working drawings in precise details even by considering 1:1 scales. Working drawings are considered as one of the most important elements in the project making. Neither of the phases in the architectural production; from the development of schematic design to the one of construction drawings are important than any other; they all are aimed to be achieved with utmost care in the firm.
The last difference is the importance given to the international collaboration. The company occasionally collaborates with architectural firms that are located in diverse parts of the world, such as, Holland, Germany, London, France and Russia. The firms are selected either by the client, or our firm is asked to develop a team of designers from international locations. The teams are developed from the ones that are able to respond to client requirements as fast as possible. Especially in the retail business, there may be a lot of change in the project even during the construction period. The teams follow these changes by revising and producing proper construction projects on time.
